Umbelditta Letter Atelier runs adult calligraphy workshops for people who want guided practice without a crowded retail class feel. Seats stay limited so instructors can watch your grip, correct slant, and coach ink flow in real time. Sessions happen in our Via San Felice studio under natural light, with tables prepared before you arrive.

Formats that fit working weeks

Saturday foundations (3 hours) Copperplate or italic introduction for beginners and returning writers. Includes drills, alphabet scaffolding, and a short finished word study.
Weeknight refinement (2 hours) For guests who already know basic strokes. Focus on spacing, flourishes, or envelope layouts with critique.
Private duo sessions Two adults sharing a reserved table—ideal for partners preparing wedding stationery or colleagues exploring lettering craft together.

Every workshop at Umbelditta Letter Atelier includes a materials kit for the day. You may bring your own preferred holders if they are already dialed in; we will adapt instruction rather than force a single brand of tool.

What stays on the table

Kits typically include practice pads with guidelines, a pointed or broad nib set, holder, ink, blotter, and a take-home sheet annotated with your session notes. Umbelditta Letter Atelier keeps spare nibs for left- and right-hand writers and offers water cups and cleaning cloths at every station.

We ask guests to arrive with clean hands and short nails if possible—small details that protect hairlines. Coffee is welcome after ink bottles are capped; we prefer wet ink away from drinks.

How to book a seat

Email [email protected] with preferred dates and script interest, or call +39 051 649 2281 during open hours. Umbelditta Letter Atelier confirms seats by reply and notes any deposit if a commissioned add-on (place cards, suite lettering) is attached to your workshop plan.

Cancellations with forty-eight hours’ notice can usually be rescheduled once within the same season. Groups larger than ten are not hosted on the main table—ask about staggered sessions instead.
